The KBO will introduce a substitute foreign player system starting next year.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on Jan. 1 that it will introduce a 'substitute foreign player signing system' starting in the 2024 season to replace foreign players when they are injured during the season.

The KBO's board of directors has been discussing the recruitment of substitute foreign players like those in the Korean Basketball League (KBL), as it believes that if a foreign player, who is the mainstay of a team's strength, leaves the team due to injury, it will cause a problem of player supply and demand and an imbalance in strength. 카지노

Starting next season, the 10 clubs will be able to register a new foreign player after terminating a foreign player's contract if the treatment period is longer than six weeks. Also, if a club places an injured foreign player on the rehabilitation list, it can sign a substitute foreign player without using up its substitutions until the player returns. The cost of hiring a replacement foreign player is limited to a maximum of $100,000 per month, the same as for an existing replacement foreign player.

The original foreign player on the rehabilitation list may return to the league after a minimum of six weeks, at which time the substitute foreign player must be replaced by another foreign player or terminated via waiver.
